Of rectangular shape with contoured outline, the hinged lid decorated with the monogram of King Ludwig I of Bavaria beneath a royal crown, set with rose-cut diamonds, mounted on a blue enamel background, the reverse and sides engraved with floral motifs, further embellished with ribbon and beaded detailing, measuring approximately 98 x 74 mm, indistinct maker's mark, probably Hanau.
