Sports watches have been a hot topic in recent times with a surge in demand by collectors and the market. While manufacturers such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin had released their own in the 1970s, A. Lange & Söhne have shunned away from sports watches and stainless steel watches (with only a few rare exceptions), 2019 marked an important event for the firm when they released their very first sports watch, the Odysseus. With a name deriving from Greek mythology, the Odysseus is certainly one of a kind.
Adopting a completely fresh case design, the classic round-shaped case is accessorised with faceted lugs, bold crown guards and an innovative integrated bracelet specific to the Odysseus. Incorporating a tripartite case, the bracelet and lugs are satin-finished, with each lug and bracelet link executed with precision. Encased inside the fully waterproof case lies an exhilarating blue dial with a fine guilloché outer ring and a grained main dial. Featuring center seconds at 6 O’clock, the firm’s signature oversized day and date display can be witnessed on the 3 and 9 O’clock position. Fitted with white gold hands and applied indexes, each are filled with superluminova to enhance its legibility in the dark. Extremely well-received by collectors, a white gold edition with a rubber strap was later launched. With a scarce production and availability in the market, the Odysseus has become one of the hottest watches by the firm.
The present example A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus is offered in “like new” overall condition by its original owner and is accompanied by its full set of accessories. A perfect opportunity for seekers of the present model to acquire an example that is highly demanded by collectors.

A. Lange & Söhne
German | 1845Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
