Catalogue Essay
- The Lange 1 holds a special place as the emblematic timepiece of A. Lange & Söhne, and the current iteration in pink gold pays homage to the original Lange 1 with its unchanged diameter of 38.5mm. It upholds the essential attributes of a perfect dress watch from this renowned German watchmaker, featuring an argenté-colored dial meticulously crafted from solid silver. The iconic decentralized time display, oversized date, and small seconds unite to form an isosceles triangle, creating a clean and harmonious layout despite the apparent complexity of the dial.
- Turning the watch over reveals the sapphire crystal case back, exposing the distinctive three-quarter plate meticulously crafted from German silver, an alloy known for its unique hue while ageing. The hand-engraved balance cock and swan neck regulator, both exquisite details, take center stage in the movement. As a timeless classic, the Lange 1 holds a revered place in the hearts of true collectors, representing an elegant and highly sought-after piece of German watchmaking.

A. Lange & Söhne
German | 1845Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
