Catalogue Essay
- The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic ref. 238.032 is a masterpiece of understated elegance and technical refinement, embodying the pinnacle of German watchmaking. Crafted in warm 18k pink gold, the 38.5mm case features a harmonious blend of satin-brushed and polished finishes, offering a timeless aesthetic that is both sophisticated and versatile. The silvered dial, adorned with applied pink gold baton indices and feuille hands, exemplifies Lange’s dedication to minimalist design and precision craftsmanship. A small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock adds a subtle yet dynamic touch to the dial’s clean and balanced layout.

- Powered by the in-house cal. L086.1, this self-winding movement is a marvel of horological engineering. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement showcases Lange’s signature finishing techniques, including a three-quarter plate in untreated German silver, a hand-engraved balance cock, and Glashütte ribbing. With a power reserve of 72 hours, the watch ensures reliable performance and practicality for daily wear.

- This exceptional timepiece is offered as a full set, accompanied by its original box and warranty, making it a highly desirable acquisition for collectors.

A. Lange & Söhne

German | 1845
Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
