Grand Lange 1
A large, rare and attractive white gold wristwatch with date, power reserve, certificate and presentation box
Full-Cataloguing
- The Grand Lange 1 is the big brother of the original Lange 1. Produced as a response to the growing trend for oversized watches, the Grand Lange 1 appeared in 2003 in a 41mm case. In 2022, A. Lange & Söhne released the newest iteration of the Grande Lange 1. The model features an attractive textured dial, which is designed with a granular appearance. Most notably, it featured a reduction in case height to 8.2mm, allowing for more comfort on the wrist. Released in 18k white gold (such as the present example) or pink gold, the case design is loyal to the original model with its tapered and beveled lugs, and the rectangular pusher on the left caseband to advance the date.
- Complete with all its accessories, this timepiece presents a remarkable opportunity to own a substantial Lange 1 that is both exclusive and highly sought after – an enticing acquisition for discerning collectors.
A. Lange & Söhne
German | 1845Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
