Introduced in 2005, the Lange 1 Zeitzone is widely regarded as one of the most elegant and intelligently designed dual-time wristwatches, marking A. Lange & Söhne’s first interpretation of a city-ring world-time display. Released in 2020, the present reference 136.829 is a rare off-catalog version crafted in white gold with a black solid-silver dial featuring applied white gold markers and hands. It is further distinguished by a baguette diamond-set bezel, a feature the brand rarely offers within its standard catalog line-up.
True to the Lange 1’s signature golden-ratio layout, the large home-time display with Roman numerals is balanced by a smaller local-time subdial with Arabic numerals at 5 o’clock, advancing in unison with the city ring via the pusher at 8 o’clock. Compared to the previous generation, this reference introduces a centrally placed AM/PM indicator for home time, along with a day-night and daylight-saving indication for the second time zone.
Offered exclusively to important clients through Lange boutiques, the present Lange 1 Time Zone ref. 136.829 is preserved in excellent condition and accompanied by its full set of accessories, offering a refined and highly functional interpretation of modern world-time watchmaking.
A. Lange & Söhne
German | 1845Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
