After working for decades at Patek Philippe, Svend Andersen had the courage to set out on his own in 1980, in the midst of the quartz crisis, with the aim of creating unique bespoke timepieces. In 1985, together with Vincent Calabrese, he co-founded the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants / Horological Academy of Independent Creators), for which the duo received the Achievement Award at the GPHG in 2023.
Andersen launched his renowned Eros line of erotic automata wristwatches in 1997. The series became known for its complex, handcrafted mechanical automata depicting libertine scenes. These watches typically feature a classical dial on the front and animated, hand-painted erotic scenes on the reverse, sometimes incorporating as many as 20 moving components.
The present Eros XL Venezia Con Amore in white gold features a playful scene depicting a romantic threesome aboard a gondola, rendered in vivid technicolor detail.
