Catalogue Essay
Ansel Adams’ sensitive portrait of a young Taos woman was included in his limited edition book, Taos Pueblo (1930), illustrated with original photographs printed by Adams on silver bromide paper manufactured by his friend and master papermaker William Dassonville in San Francisco. According to the note published in Sotheby’s 1980 catalogue, from which this print was purchased, it was from a unique unbound set of photographs from the book, each of which was signed by Adams in 1979.
