Catalogue Essay
-In honour of the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary last year, Audemars Piguet launched a new range of Royal Oak Chronograph wristwatches. The present anniversary Royal Oak Chronograph 41 reference 26240 in stainless steel displays the iconic bleu nuage Grande Tapisserie dial topped with a discreet date window at 4 o'clock and applied luminous hour markers. Following the aesthetics’ genetics of its predecessors, the bracelet's and octagonal bezel's finishes remain unchanged.
-The reference 26240 is the first Royal Oak Chronograph equipped with the newest in-house automatic calibre 4401. An upgrade over the Frédéric Piguet calibre 1185, the watch movement features a new flyback chronograph function, vertical clutch, and column wheel. Furthermore, the present watch displays a sapphire caseback that invites the wearer to admire the new in-house calibre and its 22K white gold “50 Years” rotor. The distinct, celebratory oscillating rotor was only included in watches produced in 2022, after which they would be discontinued and revert to the ordinary form.
-The dial layout has been reshuffled and rebalanced. More symmetrical, it flaunts equally sized subdials with the date window sitting close to the edge of the dial at 4 o'clock. The signature at 12 o’clock is now applied in white gold and the automatic mention underneath has been removed.
-Extremely desirable and sought-after, the present Royal Oak Chronograph is offered in “like-new” condition, still retaining its factory stickers and is complete with its certificate and original accessories.
