Catalogue Essay
Audemars Piguet launched their first Royal Oak Chronograph in 1998 with the reference 25860, equipped with the self-winding caliber 2385, based on the caliber 1185 by Frédéric Piguet. At the time of its release, this caliber was the thinnest self-winding chronograph movement ever made, measuring a mere 5.5mm in thickness. Retaining the classic slim profile of the original Royal Oak, the reference 26300 was introduced in 2008 as a successor to the 25860. While its aesthetics may appear similar to the ref. 25830, the ref. 26300 features a completely redesigned three-piece case, akin to the construction of the Offshore models.

The present example, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph ref. 26300, showcases a stunning and sporty tri-colored dial in pearly white, finished with the manufacturer’s signature Grande Tapisserie pattern and further accented by red and gray details. Offered in very good overall condition with no signs of previous polishing, this iconic 39mm watch is a perfect choice for daily wear.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881
A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.
Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
