Catalogue Essay
• Launched in the 1990s and named after founder Jules Louis Audemars (1851-1918), the Jules Audemars Collection was a conscious decision by the brand to move away from the sportif appeal of the Royal Oak model to a traditional timeless design featuring complicated timepieces in round cases. Jules Audemars was a technical innovator, known for making complex movements and this collection honoured his skills and craftsmanship. The line includes complications from perpetual calendars, tourbillons, minute repeaters and like the present timepiece, Equation of Time.

• The reference 26003BC features both perpetual calendar with moon phase and equation of time - one of the rarest complications found in timepieces. The watch shows the difference between the time on the watch (mean time) and the true solar time shown by the sun in the sky. Due to the Earth’s elliptical orbit and tilted axis, a solar day is not exactly 24 hours, with solar time varying by plus 15 minutes to minus 15 minutes throughout the year. It uses an independent hand with sun symbol and outer scale on the dial to calculate the number of minutes to add or subtract. The present model is calibrated to Geneva and its solar zenith of 12h36.

• The Jules Audemars Equation of Time is a legacy watch reflecting exceptional Swiss watchmaking acting as a bridge between the past and the future. The watch is in very good condition and offered with a full suite of accessories.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881
A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.
Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
