Released in 2019, Audemars Piguet’s Code 11.59 was offered for a younger generation as a bold and forward-thinking collection. Symbolized by the name 11.59 with the last minute of the day representing the dawn of a new day and a fresh era in innovation and design. The modern collection is complex yet traditional and features in-house movements as well as cases in precious metals and ceramic. The Code 11.59’s round cases are far removed from the Royal Oak’s angular design, yet skillfully bridge technical mastery and classic aesthetics.
The reference 15212NB is a 21st century iteration on Audemars Piguet’s iconic reference 25720 Star Wheel model first released in 1991. They are based on an unusual 18th century mechanism with three rotating sapphire disks with printed hours on a center wheel which rotate to indicate the hour and minutes. The overall effect is of dynamic motion with floating numerals providing a unique way to tell time. Released in 2023, the Code 11.59 Star Wheel is mesmerizing, with a generous 18K white gold and ceramic 41mm diameter case and stunning aventurine dial. The technical creativity is distinctive with the same fluid movement seen in the original 1990s models and made even more dynamic with the star like shimmering of the dial.
The present Star Wheel is offered by the original owner in virtually new, unworn condition, and is complete with its accessories. In 1991, Audemars Piguet created a fascinating way to display time and the reference 15212NB is a modern and contemporary re-interpretation.
