Catalogue Essay
Released in 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Cartier boutique in Japan, the present Cartier Tank Française beautifully combines the classic silhouette of the Tank Française, based mainly on the 2023 renewed version, with a Japanese aesthetic sensibility, expressing an elegance signified by simplicity and modesty.

Marked by a special minimalistic and monochrome design, the timepiece features a beautiful opaline dial with indices adorned with a stunning sunburst finish, perfectly complementing the satin-finished bezel and bracelet. The crown is further set with the lucid and pearly moonstone instead of the usual cabochon, creating a sense of unity to the silver-grey colour palette, hence accentuating the understated refinement of the timepiece.

The present timepiece comes from the distinguished collection of Mark Cho, permeating his impeccable taste and style. Made exclusively for the Japanese market, it is offered in “brand new” unworn condition, and accompanied with Cartier warranty dated 30th July 2024, in addition to a fitted presentation box.

Cartier

French
With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
