Daniel Roth is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated independent watchmakers in present times. Having worked at Audemars Piguet specializing in high complications and traditional finishing, and later Breguet restoring the brand to its former glory, his expertise and skills were well-recognized which had already granted him vast attention when he decided to go independent.

Roth’s timepieces are easily recognizable, with traces that might seem to be inspired when he was at his former residence, such as dial layouts and decorative patterns. There is a very distinctive feature that identifies a timepiece by Roth, that is the ellipsocurvex-shaped case, which is rarely seen elsewhere. The present ref. 2137/C137 perfectly illustrates the signature design elements of Roth, complimenting the case are the hands with pointed tips and a Clous de Paris guilloché dial.

The present watch was released in 1990 after Roth completed the Chronograph Dual-pusher. He was always keen on making a monopusher chronograph watch thus the Chronograph Mono-pusher was designed. The chronograph function was supported by adopting a vintage Lemania cal. 2200 (a cal. CHT 15 with shock absorber) ébauche. This early work by Roth was only produced as a limited edition of 52 pieces, with 16 in platinum and 32 in yellow gold. The present one is numbered 19.

Kept in excellent condition, this early work of Daniel Roth is a considerable collection for watch collectors who appreciate a watch with strong character and fine decorated dial.
