With tremendous input in the world of contemporary horology, De Bethune has certainly achieved an important status in the history of independent brands.
Founded in 2002 by David Zanetta and Denis Flageollet, the likely pair shared the same passion and vision for the watchmaking of tomorrow. David Zanetta, a passionate collector of fine art, history and timepieces joined forces with Denis Flageollet, a fourth generation watchmaker to create the most technically aspiring timepieces that embodies their “No Compromises” philosophy. Since the launch of De Bethune, the independent manufacturer has developed over 30 in-house movements during their 15 year span in manufacturing.
The DB12 chronograph timepiece with large date and month indication hails from the firm’s “Founding Collection” and was limitedly produced from 2002 to 2007. As an early creation of the brand, the aesthetics of the timepiece immediately draws one attention to its signature bullet-styled lugs and its blued stainless steel “feuille” hands. Paired along nicely with a clean white dial and a textured surface on the center, the marriage of a futuristic case aesthetic with a traditional dial design is apparent. Powering the timepiece is the cal. Venus 175 modified with a date and month indicator.
The present example in white gold is presented in excellent overall condition with very minimal signs of wear is fresh to the market and accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity and presentation box. Numbered 002, the present limited edition example is one of the earliest examples of the reference in white gold produced with 12 examples.
