Catalogue Essay
F.P. Journe is an independent brand that has gained a global reputation like none other over the years, especially in recent times. With a decorated career in the field of watchmaking working for the likes of Patek Philippe as master watchmaker, F.P. Journe set out to create his very own brand in 1999. In 2001, Journe launched his very first self-winding movement via the Octa collection. Offered in various models, the Octa chronograph was among one of the very first models launched in the collection, satisfying his brand objective of creating autonomous, precise and practical timepieces.

The very first examples of the Octa chrono were encased in 38mm diameter cases with a brass movement via the cal. 1300. In 2004, the movement was upgraded utilizing a fully 18K pink gold movement with a bi-directional rotating rotor via the cal. 1300.2. In 2007, the movement was upgraded again featuring a uni-directional rotating rotor via the cal. 1300.3. The Octa chrono was discontinued in 2008, making way for the Centigraphe Souverain.

Fresh-to-the-market and consigned by the original owner, it is complete with its original guarantee and presentation box.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999
Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
