To commemorate Seiko’s 140th anniversary in 2021, Grand Seiko paid tribute to the parent company by releasing this masterpiece from the Micro Artist Studio, the reference SBGZ007 as a limited edition of 50 pieces.
The finishing on the exterior and the dial is carried out with as much attention to detail and level of artisanal skill as the 9R02 movement, the manually-wound Spring Drive movement also created by the Micro Artist studio. The case, in platinum for this limited edition, features almost floral, radial-style engravings to the case. Each groove is made by hand, and then the artisan returns to the groove to hand polish it to their exacting standards. The starry dial, reminiscent of aventurine, is meant to evoke the night skies over Achi, a village in the Nagano Prefecture of Japan known for its stunning night skies. These extremely clear and starry skies are due to a lack of air and light pollution combined with the village’s high elevation. Stargazing is an extremely popular attraction in Achi, attracting millions of visitors each year.
The present SBGZ007 has a unique engraving on the gold plate, and is numbered 47 of 50 pieces. It is preserved in like new condition with its full set of accessories.
