The present Repetition Minutes Zephyr by Guy Ellia is all about being transparent. Featuring a completely open-worked dial with a structural sapphire case, the wearer is invited to admire the poetic complications and intricacies within the watch from all angles. In fact, the faceted sapphire block case resembles a gemstone which resonates with what Guy Ellia is best known for.
Realised by Christophe Claret, a true master of complications famed for his tourbillons and carillon watches with double-length cathedral gongs, the present example is fitted with a minute repeater complication which can be chimed by simply swiping the signed slider at 6 o’clock. With a traditional two-handed display of the reference time, this timepiece is accompanied by 4 other time zones represented by adjustable rollers stating the cities and the corresponding time with day and night indicators. Very much into the details, the reference time can be tuned by turning its diamond-set skeletonised crown. Along with its power reserve indication at the back of the watch, this is a highly complex machine that demands the highest level of craftsmanship to build.
Grand in conception and execution, the present example is one of a limited edition of 12 pieces only, offered in excellent overall condition. Flamboyant and designed to be seen, this will be a fantastic addition for collectors who appreciate the convolutions of modern haute horology.
