The intricacies of the exotic beasts and the flora of South Africa on this Slim d’Hermès are rendered with miniscule brushstrokes and subtle nuances painted directly onto the mother-of-pearl disk before being fired in a kiln to conserve its brilliant colours. Depicted here is the Cape mountain zebra, which is a rare protected species found in the south-eastern provinces of South Africa. This design by Alice Shirley is modelled on a zebra that has wandered off to explore the fynbos, which is transformed in spring into a fragrant, multi-coloured carpet of flowers, a dreamlike vista. Hermès equipped this limited-edition timepiece with its H1950 movement, which was an automatic movement that was first introduced in 2015. The movement is exceptionally slim, which allows for an elegant slender case.
