Catalogue Essay
Established in 1997, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli is an elite Italian sailboat racing team. With an aim to compete in the prestigious America’s Cup in 2000, the Italian side won the Louis Vuitton Cup in the same year. Some of their most notable wins include the 2011 Extreme sailing series and most recently in 2021 the Prada Cup.

With an extensive synergy and approach to innovation, Hublot partnered with Luna Rossa in 2007 to create a limited edition series of the sought-after Big Bang model. With a 44mm diameter case dressed in blackened ceramic, the dial is further reminiscent of the iconic colors of the Italian race team featuring a carbon Kevlar dial with its iconic red stripe featuring the Luna Rossa logo.

The present example numbered 86 is well-preserved and is complete with its full set of accessories, consigned by the original owner.

Hublot

Swiss | 1980
Hublot was founded by Carlo Crocco in 1980 and named after the French word for "porthole," which resembles their iconic bezel design. Hublot's first watch followed three years of research and was the first wristwatch to be fitted with a natural rubber strap. The brand's most recognizable watch today is the 'Big Bang', which was first launched in 2005 upon the arrival of CEO and shareholder Jean-Claude Biver. Other noteworthy models are the 'Classic Fusion' and 'King Power'.
