Catalogue Essay
Introduced in 1994, the IWC Fliegerchronograph derives from a long heritage associated with iconic pilot’s wristwatches by the firm. Produced until 2005, the Fliegerchronograph was the brand’s beloved model during the 90s. Featuring a 39mm diameter stainless steel case, the model offers a day and date complication with an ETA 7750 based movement, attractive no-frills three registered black dial and iconic Flieger hands reminiscent of the MK XI model. The present example paired with a stainless steel bracelet is part of an early generation of the ref. 3706 distinct by the tell-tale signs of the use of tritium by the “T” bracketing the SWISS MADE inscription at 6 o’clock. Adorned by collectors with the charm of an aged tritium dial of this early specimen of the ref 3706, the present example accompanied by its original guarantee is an excellent timepiece with incredible vintage appeal.
