Catalogue Essay
- Known for its role in aviation, IWC has been celebrated as one of the pioneering manufacturers of military-grade watches since the first half of the 20th century. The present Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII pays tribute to the iconic Mark X, while updated with a modern and minimalistic look.
- The original Mark XI first entered into service in 1948, specially tailored for combat pilots in the British Royal Air Force, then later introduced to the Fleet Air Arm along with the Royal Australian Airforce. Considered one of the finest military watches ever envisioned, the Mark XI was very popular among fighter pilots for its iconic legible dial and baton hour hand.
- Following closely to its predecessor, this modern reinterpretation features a pristine white dial paired with contrasting outsized Arabic numerals in black, and luminous hands and markers on 3,6,9 and 12 o’clock for optimal legibility.
- Offered in excellent overall condition, the present example is accompanied by its full set of accessories.
