Catalogue Essay
- Symbolising the unpredictability of life, according to L'Epee, the Granade combines fine watchmaking with a call to pull the pin and live for now!
- Part of a limited edition of 99 pieces per color (8 colours total), the clock's frame is composed of five distinct plates and six vertical supports, all notched and interlocking to resemble the grooved shell of the original MKII grenade. A small pointer, modelled after the 1915 German stick grenade, indicates the hours and minutes as they rotate slowly by on disks.
- The live grenade beats thanks to the L’Epée 1839 movement cal. 1855, designed and manufactured in-house and boasting an 8 day power reserve. The movement is wound thanks to the use of a key-pin, safely stored in the fuse-shaped frame atop the structure. To set the time the pin is simply inserted onto a post in the center of the top plate, whilst the mainspring barrel is wound from a post on the bottom of the clock.
- In excellent condition, the Grenade is further accompanied by its full set of accessories.
