Horological Machines by MB&F has witnessed some of the boldest, most futuristic and fascinating designs over the years captivating the attention of collectors to join the tribe. Taking inspiration from outer space, the sky and racing machines in their previous masterpieces, the HM7 takes a different turn. Introduced in 2017, the organic jellyfish-inspired aesthetic is clearly portrayed in the HM7 named the Aquapod.
Immediately making its presence known, the oversized case topped with an ultra-high domed sapphire crystal encapsulates the flying tourbillon positioned on the center of the watch. Featuring a ceramic bezel insert suspended by its lugs, the hollowed gap in between at 3 and 9 o’clock features two crowns, the left for winding and the right for time adjusting. While its hours and minutes are indicated via two rotating discs one atop of another, a nice little feature with the looks of a tall “martini glass” indicates the minutes. The numerals and graphics are Superluminova with ambient luminous material featured on the inner-rim of the tourbillon carriage. Once turned over, the excitement continues as it features a tentacle-like winding rotor composed of platinum. Although the horological machine is oversized with a case measuring 53.8mm diameter, it is compensated by articulated lugs that provide a snug fit on the wrist.
The HM7 was released in several variations in platinum with a red bezel limited to 25 pieces, 50 pieces in titanium with a green bezel, 33 examples in titanium with a blue bezel and 66 examples in pink gold with a black bezel.
The present example in pink gold is offered in attractive overall condition with its full set of accessories intact consigned by the original owner. Furthermore, the present fresh-to-the-market example is also the first HM7 that is offered at a PHILLIPS auction. Whimsical and technically sound, this is truly a great opportunity for lovers of independent timepieces to acquire a masterpiece by none other than the fathomed MB&F.
