Catalogue Essay
- Introduced in 2020, the Montblanc 1858 Split Second Chronograph was produced in a limited series of 100 examples. Featuring a sporty retro attire its design echos the Minerva military chronographs of the 1920s and 1930s.
- Rich with many details, the high-fire enamel deep blue dial, with frosted white luminescent hour markers evokes the feeling of glaciers and snowy mountains. The added orange elements accentuate the vintage style while ensuring excellent readability of complications, day and night. Equipped with a tachometer in a spiral form in the centre of the dial, the user can measure times of up to three minutes, instead of only one minute with a traditional chronograph scale located around the dial.
- Constructed with grade 5 titanium and cased at 44mm in diameter, the watch is extremely comfortable and light on the wrist. Robust, sturdy and scratch resistant the timepiece features a satin case, with polished edges that highlight its silhouette.
- Inside, the watch is powered by caliber MB M16.31, a single-push chronograph movement. Originally inspired by the Minerva 17.29 caliber, as one can find engraved on the baseplate, the entirety of the movement is completed by The Manufacture Montblanc de Villeret, experts in the making of high-end, traditional complications.
- Limited to 100 pieces and offered in excellent condition with its original set of accessories, this present example is certainly an extremely well-executed timepiece of true haute horlogerie.
