Catalogue Essay
Moritz Grossmann set foot in the world of independent watchmaking in 2008 from Glashütte Germany. In the spirit of 19th century watchmaker Moritz Grossmann, the brand released it first timepiece named after a phoenix in Egyptian mythology, the Benu. Years later, to celebrate the 10th anniversary, the firm released The Benu Anniversary with two exceptional Grand-Feu enamel variants: white gold with black dial and like the present example, platinum with a stunning blue dial. Each made in a limited series of only 10 pieces, both variant is a true representation of pure beauty.
Powering this compelling timepiece is the calibre 100.1 movement that reveals itself through the sapphire-crystal display on the reverse. Fitted with the firm’s ingenious hand setting mechanism with a winder pusher, the mechanism switches to hand setting mode and stops the movement by a brief pull of the crown. The crown immediately returns to its home position but can be turned to precisely set the hands. Afterwards, the movement is restarted with the pusher adjacent to the winding crown without altering the positions of the hands. At the same time, the mechanism switches back to the winding mode.
Offered in excellent condition by its original owner, the present example numbered 8 of a limited series of 10 pieces is accompanied with its full accessories.
