Catalogue Essay
- The history of the Speedmaster dates back to 1957 when it was initially introduced as a chronograph designed for sports and racing. However, it wasn't until the 1960s that it gained widespread fame for its pivotal role in space exploration. Since then, the collection has expanded to encompass a wide range of variations in terms of materials, complications, and sizes. In 1985, Omega made a significant decision to launch a Speedmaster variant that incorporated an elegant complication befitting the collection's rich history: the moon phases.

- The reference 345.0809, being the first Speedmaster Professional to feature this particular complication, stands out with its special sub-dial design where all the calendar numbers face towards the center. With a relatively brief production span of only three years, approximately 1,300 pieces of this model were ever manufactured, making it exceptionally rare and highly sought after by collectors who affectionately refer to it as the "Speedymoon."

- Retaining the iconic aesthetic of the original Speedmaster Professional, the case boasts elegant twisted lugs and houses the Lemania-based movement calibre 866, an upgrade from the renowned and robust calibre 861. Furthermore, this timepiece is offered in excellent condition with the correct “1450” bracelet and “808” endlinks, also showcasing a captivating large moon phases and aged creamy lumes that exude vintage charisma.

Omega

Swiss | 1848
Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
