Reference 2998 was the first Speedmaster to officially feature a black aluminium bezel.
Launched in 1961, this 2998-61 features the correct alpha hands and spear chronograph hand. The 'stepped' dial is in excellent condition, and the luminous has aged evenly to a warm orange colour which match the chronograph and time hands. This example also features the acrylic "Base 500" bezel, with the 'dot' over 90 calibrations.
