Catalogue Essay
Debuted in 1992, the reference 5040 had a 15 years production run until 2007. Cased in an unconventional tonneau-shape, the model was available in an array of four metals: yellow gold, pink gold, white gold as well as platinum. The reference 5040 was the first serially produced perpetual calendar model to be featured in this unique shape. The present example belongs to the first series notable by its 77X,XXX movement serial, whereas the second series would bare the 3.12 million movement number. Approximately 3,350 examples were ever produced, only 500 examples were encased in 18K white gold like the present example.

Offered in a pristine condition with an additional solid case back, the original Certificate of Origin, and fitted presentation box, it is a rare opportunity for connoisseurs to acquire this peculiar variant and undervalued grand complication timepiece by Patek Philippe.
