Catalogue Essay
To celebrate the re-opening of the Patek Philippe boutique in Geneva, the firm released a limited edition reference via the ref. 5565 limited to 300 pieces along with the ref. 5105 in 2006. Exclusive to the Geneva boutique, these references were only available for purchase in the respective salon. Encased in stainless steel, the ref. 5565 takes its inspiration from the ref. 565 which was first launched in 1938. Adopting a mono-bloc case, the similarities between the two references are uncanny. The ref. 5565 features a beautifully executed two tone dial with a silvered brushed finish in the center matched attractively with luminous pencil hands. Flipping the watch over to its back, the solid screwed-down caseback is engraved with the grand building of the Geneva salon along with three historical dates “1839-1892-2006” - 1839 founding of Patek, Czapek &Cie at Quai des Bergues 29; Patek Philippe moved to Rue du Rhône in 1853 and in 1892 they celebrated the renovation of the building under the direction of architect Jacques-Elisée Goss and then the 2006 celebration.

The present example Patek Philippe ref. 5565A-001 is offered in excellent overall condition and is further complete with its full set of accessories including its commemorative coin and presentation box.

Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
