The Maison Patek Philippe in Shanghai celebrated its triumphant 10th anniversary in 2022 with deep passion and pride, marking a decade since its grand opening since October 2012. Since entering China in 2005 with a Shanghai boutique (partnered with Melchers Group) and Beijing in 2008, the Shanghai Maison—followed by Beijing in 2014—has stood as an exclusive haven of Patek Philippe’s in Asia.
The maison situates in a historic building at No. 33 Waitanyuan Boulevard on Shanghai’s legendary Bund built in 1872 as the British Consul’s residence blending European and Chinese styles.
The crowning jewel of the celebration was this breathtaking limited-edition Ref. 5230P-010 World Time in platinum crafted in an ultra-exclusive run of just 25 pieces. This masterpiece pays heartfelt tribute to China and Shanghai with its vivid red hand-guilloché “basket” motif dial, “Shanghai” boldly inscribed in red on the black city disk, a symbolic star replacing the sun on the 24-hour disk, a luxurious black strap with striking red stitching, and a sapphire case back engraved “10 Years 2012-2022 Patek Philippe Maison Shanghai” in elegant red—echoing the spirit of the 2012 inauguration’s limited World Time series.
Its extreme scarcity elevates the Ref. 5230P-010 to legendary status as this is the only example to appear publicly in the auction market to date. Fresh-to-the-market and complete with its full set of accessories, this timepiece embodies Patek Philippe’s passionate and enduring bond with China.
