Celestial
A “like-new”, incredibly fine and rare platinum and pink gold astronomical wristwatch with sky chart, phases and orbit of the moon and time of Meridian Passage of Sirius and of the Moon, Certificate of Origin and winding presentation box
Full-Cataloguing
- Very rare two-tone case by Patek Philippe
- Poetic celestial dial with a chart of the Northern Hemisphere sky
- Offered by the original owner, kept in "like-new" condition
Launched in 2002, the reference 5102 was initially crafted solely in white gold, with an estimated 500 pieces produced before the introduction of yellow gold models in 2007, followed by pink gold and platinum variant in 2009 (like the present watch). The reference 5102 was eventually discontinued in 2012, paving the way for its successor, the reference 6102.
The dial is adorned with a chart of the Northern Hemisphere sky, elegantly rotating to depict the apparent angular motion of stars and moon, as well as the progression of moon phases. Three sapphire crystal discs are intricately layered to create the illusion of the moon's dynamic orbit and the movement of stars, providing a captivating sense of depth.
Hours and minutes are displayed by two skeletonized white-lacquered gold feuille hands, enhanced by a subtle blue chapter ring featuring Roman numerals. The delicate elliptical contour along the edge of the glass frames the portion of the sky visible from Geneva's latitude.
Offered by the original owner and preserved in "like-new" condition, this watch comes with all original accessories and its case configuration is considered the rarest of all.
