Good to know:

- First automatic annual calendar flyback chronograph wristwatch by Patek Philippe
- Uncommon bull’s eye register chronograph layout
- “Like-new” condition

First released in 2006, the Patek Philippe ref. 5960 was the firm’s answer to craft a wristwatch that had a combined feature of a chronograph and an annual calendar. It was the first in-house, automatic annual calendar flyback chronograph wristwatch, available first in platinum with a smoky grey dial, followed by other precious metals like pink gold and white gold. Later in 2014, Patek Philippe introduced another variant in 2014, which is the configuration as seen on this present ref. 5960, in stainless steel and paired with the brand’s iconic rice bead bracelet.

The ref. 5960 is a beloved watch by a lot of collectors, perhaps it is due to the unusual dial layout rarely seen in other Patek Philippe models. Fitted with silvery white dial, with a bull’s eye register chronograph and bright red seconds and chronograph hands, this watch cased in the bright-coloured metal is surely eye catching, boasting the subtle, luxurious look even one is in sports attire. The bold, black ring accents and hour markers also create a big contrast with the white dial and red hands. It is an elegant sports watch, perhaps a good alternative to the firm’s long acclaimed Nautilus series. For watch collectors who enjoy sports watches, this present ref. 5960, kept in “like-new” condition, would be the best choice to explore Patek Philippe’s alternative sports models without compromising elegance and horological excellence.

Patek Philippe

Swiss | 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
