 Excellent case condition

A stunningly elegant open faced pocket watch with Breguet numerals on one side, this reference 974/27J dates to 2001 and displays a unique hand-painted enamel dial by the revered Anita Porchet.

While she has produced a wide array of enamel dials for Patek Philippe, encompassing a variety of subjects, some of Anita Porchet’s most impressive dials derive inspiration from nature, specifically the animal kingdom. Her birds, butterflies, and many other fauna have graced the watches of many Swiss manufactures.

This particular scene is similar to lot 108 of the New York Watch Auction: XII, with an adjacent sub-reference number and depicting a blue macaw. This reference 974/27J, however, bears an illustration of the blue-headed macaw, one of the smaller macaws indigenous to Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil and recognizable due to its primarily green-blue plumage to its body and bright blue head.

Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
