- First introduced at Baselworld in 1998, the Patek Philippe reference 5070 sent shockwaves within the more traditional collecting community thanks to its revolutionary design and modern case size. A milestone for the Maison, this modern chronograph-only wristwatch is the direct successor of references 1463 and 1579, two extremely sought after and coveted vintage models from Patek Philippe.
- Featuring a water-resistant case with a screw-down case back, the reference 5070 measures 42mm in diameter with an extremely contemporary and attractive stepped bezel. Enjoying a unique spot in Patek Philippe’s history as one of the largest watches it had produced and the last chronograph to use a modified Lemania 2310-based ébauche, the model inherited the design of the unique reference 2512 from 1950, an oversized split-seconds chronograph that now resides in the Patek Philippe Museum.
- Introduced in a total of four different case materials, including yellow gold, pink gold, white gold and platinum, it is estimated that approximately 1,000 examples were produced in the respective metal. Extremely well preserved, the present example from 2008 is further accompanied by its set of accessories.
