Catalogue Essay
- The Piaget Altiplano Skeleton was a game-changer. First unveiled at SIHH 2012, it features a fully skeletonised dial and the world’s thinnest automatic movement at the time, measuring 2.40 mm thick only.

- Boasting record-breaking dimensions, the present timepiece is framed in a 38mm white gold case with highly polished lugs and flanks that draw a nice contrast to the brushed skeletonised dial. The sapphire caseback invites its wearer to admire the tastefully executed ultra-thin 1200S movement which was built upon the preceding caliber 1200P (2.35 mm). The making of an ultra-thin movement is certainly not for the faint-hearted. With each component carefully hollowed and finished by hand, this painstakingly difficult process requires the most skilled and experienced artisans to execute. The bridges are embellished with alternating sunburst and sand-blasted matte surfaces, further highlighted by the highly polished edges. From the manually finished bevels to the traditional blued screws, no detail is left unattended with all features in commensuration with the high standards of haute horology. The hands and platinum mono-block micro-rotor are blackened. Instead of a signed dial, the “Piaget” logo is discretely inscribed on the micro-rotor, visible on the dial side.

- This skeletonised beauty, the Piaget ref. G0A37132, is presented in excellent overall condition with its original accessories.

Piaget

Swiss | 1874
Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.

Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
