Catalogue Essay
Introduced in 2000 to commemorate the new millennium and still in the helm of Mr. Dubuis, the Sympathie 2000 models were regarded as one of the nicest collection of wristwatches manufactured by Roger Dubuis pre or post acquisition of Richemont. However, the story of the bi-retrograde wristwatch really started in 1995 when it was originally introduced featuring a slightly larger case at 37mm diameter than the millenary edition.
Featuring a uniquely shaped cushion styled case, it immediately draws one’s attention. Fitted inside the case is a glossy black symmetrical dial layout featuring a bi-retrograde calendar with moon phases. Accredited as a wristwatch up to the standards of Bulletin D’Observatoire, the movement is most definitely well executed and precise. The present example is presented in excellent overall condition and is a fantastic iteration of Mr. Dubuis' work prior to the acquisition by Richemont group.
