Catalogue Essay
Dr. Woo is a master tattoo artist famous for his unique and intricate single-needle designs, and his long list of celebrity clients include Justin Bieber, Drake and Cara Delevingne just to name a few.
Characterised by the distinctive mysterious iconography which decorates the inside solid case back visible on the semi-skeletonized dial, the iconic Roger Dubuis Excalibur starshaped bridge is replaced by a specific sapphire dial on each of the 8 pieces made. Each displays a starship journey’s graphic design by Dr. Woo, revealing his spider symbol on 8 different places. The spider is found at the 9 o’clock of the dial on the present specimen, and the case back is engraved with an enigmatic cosmic map, representing Dr Woo’s unique vision of time. The timepiece is further powered by the Geneva Seal-stamped manual calibre RD512SQ, boasting an upgraded performance with power reserve up to 72 hours, thanks to a tourbillon lower carriage made in titanium and upper tourbillon carriage in cobalt chrome with mirror polish finishing.
Offered in excellent overall condition, and accompanied with its full set of accessories, this very rare and impressive Excalibur 42, Monotourbillon Dr Woo is fitted with a black calf leather strap engraved with Dr Woo's language symbols representing connection between humans. Numbered 7 out of limited edition of only 8 pieces, this unorthodox piece would surely enchant the discerning collectors.
