The Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 16710 was released in 1989 replacing the first GMT-Master II ref. 16760 famously nicknamed the “Fat Lady” due to its enhanced voluptuous case dimensions. The introduction of the ref. 16710 featured a slimmer case dimension compared to its previous model with later models featuring an upgraded caliber 3186. Throughout its production span, a total of three dial variants were available, T<25 dial up until 1997 with the use of tritium, Swiss dial up to 1998 with the use of luminova and the latest Swiss Made dial up until 2007 with the use of superluminova.
The present example GMT-Master II from circa 2005 with a “D” serial is fitted with the correct “Swiss Made” dial for its production period. Offered with the full set of accessories including the original guarantee stamped G/A/W Amsterdam, the present GMT-Master II a delightful and a superbly undervalued timepiece perfect for new collectors of vintage Sports timepieces.

Swiss | 1905Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919. Launched in 1963, these chronographs are without any doubt amongst the most iconic and coveted of all collectible wristwatches. Other key collectible models include their most complicated vintage watches, including references 8171 and 6062 with triple calendar and moon phase, "Jean Claude Killy" triple date chronograph models and the Submariner, including early "big-crown" models and military-issued variants.
