By celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the coveted Rolex Submariner, the firm released the ref. 16610LV in 2003, featuring for the first time a green bezel insert. An instant success during its initial launch, the ref. 16610LV was fast to be dubbed by collectors as the “Kermit” due to its distinct appeal and colors reminiscent of the famous cartoon frog. The introduction of the green bezel insert was also somewhat of a milestone as the color green is the signature color of the firm as witnessed in their iconic green box and packaging. The reference was discontinued in 2010 making way for the new ref. 116610LV nicknamed the “Hulk”.
