Catalogue Essay
In virtually mint condition, retaining not only the factory finish to all elements and the remains of the original stickers to the case back, this reference 6263 still retains all accompanying paperwork and presentation box when delivered at the time of sale. This particular watch is a wonderful example and is part of the 6263 production, manufactured for nearly 20 years during which an estimated 2,000 pieces were made in gold. The majority of the gold versions bear the COSC certified chronometer designation on the dial. The present example features a black matt dial with champagne subsidiary registers with black printing giving a very strong colour scheme and a beautiful harmony between the tones of black and gold. The case has become oxidized over the years giving the watch an extremely attractive look and leaving us with the feeling that the watch has been sleeping for a very long time. Antonio Cabrini, born on the 8th of October 1957 in Cremona, is considered as one of the greatest left-backs player of all time and as one of the best defenders in Italian football history. His professional career started in his hometown in 1973-1974 with the local team U.S. Cremonese in the C Series. In the season of 1975, he played in the B Series for Atlanta; after few appearances he was quickly remarked by other clubs and was acquired in 1976 by Juventus. Author of 300 games in 13 seasons, he dedicated most of his career to Juventus with whom he won all UEFA club competitions and 6 championship titles. During the 1978 World Cup held in Argentina, he formed one of the most exceptional defensive units of all time alongside goalkeeper Dino Zoff, as well as defenders Claudio Gentile and Gaetano Scirea, playing with the Italian national team. And at the age of 21 he won the Best Young Player Award. Four years later, with the same legendary unit, he won the 1982 World Cup. Antonio Cabrini was obviously best known for his technical, defensive, athletic, and physical qualities, but also for being one of the most good-looking football players at the time and was nicknamed “Bell’Antonio”. After retiring in 1991, he started coaching in 2000 and is since May 14th 2012 coach of the Italian women’s national team.

Swiss | 1905Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919. Like no other company, the success of the wristwatch can be attributed to many of Rolex's innovations that made them one of the most respected and well-known of all luxury brands. These innovations include their famous "Oyster" case — the world's first water resistant and dustproof watch case, invented in 1926 — and their "Perpetual" — the first reliable self-winding movement for wristwatches launched in 1933. They would form the foundation for Rolex's Datejust and Day-Date, respectively introduced in 1945 and 1956, but also importantly for their sports watches, such as the Explorer, Submariner and GMT-Master launched in the mid-1950s.One of its most famous models is the Cosmograph Daytona. Launched in 1963, these chronographs are without any doubt amongst the most iconic and coveted of all collectible wristwatches. Other key collectible models include their most complicated vintage watches, including references 8171 and 6062 with triple calendar and moon phase, "Jean Claude Killy" triple date chronograph models and the Submariner, including early "big-crown" models and military-issued variants.
