Catalogue Essay
- The Seiko SKX007 is celebrated as a true icon in the world of affordable dive watches. Launched in 1996, it quickly became a favorite for its rugged build, ISO-certified dive capabilities, and timeless design.
- Inspired by earlier Seiko divers like the 6105 “Captain Willard” and 7002, the SKX007 carried forward the brand’s legacy of reliable tool watches. It was released alongside the SKX009 (Pepsi bezel) and became a staple in many collections. Despite being discontinued, it remains highly respected and widely collected.
- This timepiece features a Matte black dial with bold white indices and Seiko’s LumiBrite lume. A Day-date complication at 3 o’clock. As is Seiko’s custom, “SAT” is executed in blue on the day wheel, with “SUN” in red text. It can be adjusted by the screw-down crown at 4 o’clock. There is also a 120-click, unidirectional, elapsed-time diver’s bezel, which operates well with good action. It is relatively easy to align with the chapter ring and dial but does exhibit minimal back play.
