Catalogue Essay
- Following the success of Hodinkee’s Carrera Skipper in 2017, Tag Heuer and Hodinkee have joined forces once again in 2021 with the Tag Heuer Carrera Dato.
- A modern interpretation with one of collectors favourite 1965 chronograph, the ref. 3147N also known as the “Dato 45”, the ref. 3147N is known for its combination of an elapsed 45-minute register at 3 o’clock and date function. It was also the brand’s first Carrera with a calendar complication. With no disappointment to fans of the vintage icon, the Carrera Dato Hodinkee edition is dressed in the cool of darkness with a paired down black dial much like the original.
- Hitting all the right notes, the tribute Carrera Dato Hodinkee edition features Carrera enthusiasts’ favourite 39mm ‘glassbox’ case and vintage Heuer logo at 12 o’clock on its matte black dial.
- Powered by the Calibre Heuer 02 developed in 2010s from the ground-up by Tag Heuer, this timepiece features a new design catered to the unique 30-minute register dial layout of the Dato by removing the typical six and nine o’clock sub dials with the newly added date disc.
- Utilizing both a column-wheel and a vertical-clutch mechanism for improved start-stop precision, the Calibre Heuer 02 fitted with an open-worked 160th anniversary rotor powers up to 80 hours of reserve and beats at 28,800vph.
- A total of 250 pieces of the model was available, while half of its run were sold through the Hodinkee Shop, the rest of the production were available at TAG Heuer boutiques in the United States and Japan during that time.
- An instant success during its launch, the present timepiece is numbered 229 and offered by its original owner in well-preserved condition.
