Catalogue Essay
- Thomas Prescher's passion for watchmaking developed during his six-year service in the German Navy. Eager to turn his passion into a profession, he embarked on a journey to learn the art of dismantling, repairing, and restoring clocks and watches. His dedication and expertise led him to apply for an apprenticeship at IWC, where he was accepted and completed the program in an impressive three years, instead of the designated four.
- With valuable experience gained from major brands like Audemars Piguet, Gübelin and Blancpain, Thomas decided it was time to navigate his own path in 2002 and focusing on creating bespoke timepieces for his discerning clientele. Under the collection of “Tempusvivendi”, which translates to "living time" in Latin, Thomas specialized in crafting watches that features animals on their dials. The ordinary editions of these watches featured a double retrograde automaton-like display, but the current creation takes craftsmanship, finishing, and aesthetics to a whole new level.
- This unique one-of-a-kind timepiece breaks away from the norm with not one, but two animals gracing the dial. The hand-engraved golden dragon and tiger form a breathtaking scenery against a backdrop of silvered clouds and rock. The enchantment continues when one turns the watch over, revealing the mesmerizing movement engravings visible through the sapphire display back. Even this intricate and captivating feature was handmade by Thomas Prescher himself, exemplifying his commitment to perfection and creating truly exceptional timepieces.
