Catalogue Essay
- Officially Released in 2016, the Urban Jürgensen 1741 perpetual calendar to combine centuries of fine watchmaking and delivering them into a classic, elegant and discreet perpetual calendar that is packed with all the brand’s savoir-faire.
- The case is nothing short of perfect, featuring a convex bezel that adds nice reflections and distortions, the rounded “teardrop” lugs certainly further give the case its unique personality. The dial too, finished to perfection showcases a a fine, grained texture, known as grenage, a technique originating in the late 1800s which is hardly ever used these days due to its complexity. Finally, the combination of the stylised Urban Jürgensen Arabic numerals (an evolution of the known Breguet numerals) paired with the diamond-finished blued hands truly render this piece exceptional.
- Inside, the timepiece is made alive thanks to the well-known caliber P4, developed by Jean-François Mojon of Chronode for Urban Jürgense. The beauty of this hand-wound caliber is the the large balance is held in place under an openwork transversal bridge which is further paired with a stop-seconds mechanism that allows for precise time setting.
- Preserved in excellent overall condition
