The Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques “Jalousie” is a captivating reinterpretation of a 1930s design by combining vintage elegance with mechanical ingenuity. Inspired by the original Montre à Volets created under the brand’s collaboration with the celebrated Parisian Jeweller Verger Frères, this timepiece features a distinctive shutter-dial mechanism reminiscent of louvred windows. The shutters, operated by a cabochon sapphire-set lever at six o’clock, are exceptionally thin, allowing them to retract discreetly and reveal an ivory dial with blue steel hands and a small seconds.

Produced in 1996 as part of the Les Historiques collection which pays tribute to Vacheron Constantin’s rich heritage, this reference was produced in limited numbers with only 37 pieces produced according to Vacheron Constantin. The present example features a rare pink gold and white gold case embellished with intricate side engravings.

More than a conventional dress watch, the “Jalousie” reimagines elegance through its inventive shutter-dial concept. While traditional dress watches are designed to be discreet, this model is a bold statement piece, ideal for collectors who appreciate historical depth and creative design.

Presented in exceptional condition, this rare example is well suited to both formal occasions and everyday wear. It is a compelling tribute to early 20th century watchmaking, brought to life with modern refinement and timeless appeal.

Vacheron Constantin

Swiss | 1755

The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.

Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
