In 2018, A. Lange & Söhne redefined the boundaries of haute horlogerie at SIHH with the groundbreaking debut of the Triple Split, Ref. 424.038.

Following on from that success, the brand would go on to release a 18K pink gold version, the 424.037F, three years later, featuring a solid silver dial finished in blue and in a highly exclusive limited edition of just 100 pieces.

The Triple Split represents a monumental leap in chronograph technology, introducing a world-first mechanical split-seconds chronograph capable of measuring elapsed time in seconds, minutes, and hours—up to an impressive 12 hours. This innovation allows the watch to precisely measure and compare multi-hour single and cumulative times, an unlimited number of intermediate times, reference times, and two concurrently started events with an accuracy of one-sixth of a second. The dial’s impeccable design and clear legibility, ensures that all this complex information is displayed with remarkable clarity and sophistication.

At the heart of this horological masterpiece lies the extraordinary caliber L132.1, where the movement’s intricate mechanics, including its split-seconds and flyback functions, are a testament to A. Lange & Söhne’s unparalleled expertise in precision engineering. A press of the rattrapante pusher at 2 o’clock activates the split, while the flyback pusher at 4 o’clock allows for instantaneous resetting. The sapphire caseback offers a breathtaking view of the movement’s exquisite finishing, including Glashütte ribbing, hand-engraved balance cocks, and polished chamfers.

The first example to grace the auction room, the present example, numbered 93 out of the limited edition of 100 pieces, is in excellent condition and represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most innovative and technically advanced timepieces ever created. Whether timing a Formula 1 race, a marathon, or a long-haul flight, the Triple Split is a testament to A. Lange & Söhne’s relentless pursuit of horological excellence.

A. Lange & Söhne

German | 1845
Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
