Tourbillon watches from Breguet merit special attention, as the brand’s founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet, invented the tourbillon in 1795 to improve pocket watch accuracy by averaging positional errors. Patented in France in 1801, only 35 were made during his lifetime. Today, the tourbillon is revered as one of the most beautiful and complex horological mechanisms.
Breguet’s legacy includes numerous innovations, from the tourbillon and Breguet overcoil to its distinctive hands and numerals. Among its finest creations is the ref. 3755, a showcase of technical mastery and aesthetic finesse.
The brand was among the first to pursue serial production of tourbillon wristwatches, led by Daniel Roth in the 1970s and 1980s. Under his direction, the manual-winding calibre 558 was developed at Nouvelle Lémania, featuring a one-minute tourbillon and a distinctive dial layout with elevated hour and minute hands.
The Ref. 3755 uses a skeletonised movement with a perpetual calendar module. Though similar to ref. 3355, it features different engraving and design elements. Housed in a 40mm platinum case with Breguet’s signature fluted caseband and polished bezel, the watch reveals a hand-engraved 18K gold movement. The off-centred time display sits at 12 o’clock with retrograde date, leap year aperture at 3' clock, and a one-minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock serving as a small seconds.
Numbered 4142 I and dating to circa 2000, this well-preserved reference is offered for the first time at Phillips along with its certificate and accessories.

Breguet
Swiss | 1775 Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.
Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
