Making its significant debut in 1936, the Cartier Asymétrique emerged during one of the most thrilling eras of watchmaking, particularly for Cartier. In a period marked by experimentation with creative case designs, the Asymétrique undoubtedly stood out. Featuring a distinctive distorted rectangular case—more specifically, a parallelogram shape where the dial design is also unique to this model, showcasing an asymmetric layout.

In 1996, prior to the establishment of the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), a limited run of 300 pieces in yellow gold and 100 in platinum was released, maintaining the alternating Arabic numerals and baton indexes reminiscent of the original 1936 model. An updated Asymétrique was introduced in 2006 under the CPCP collection, featuring refined lugs and a guilloche dial adorned with black Roman numerals.

Elegant, rare and highly desirable, the present example was unveiled in April 2020 during Watches & Wonders. Generating considerable excitement, the Asymétrique was offered in platinum, pink gold and yellow gold, with only 100 examples produced in each metal.

Engraved with the lucky number 68, this platinum example features a sleek silvered dial with applied Arabic numerals and a striking ruby crown. Preserved in excellent condition and complete with its full accessories, it is a must-have amidst the rising demand for fancifully shaped Cartier timepieces.
