- In the late 1990s, Seiko embarked on a venture to revive its production of mechanical chronographs. To accomplish this, the company enlisted the expertise of its experienced engineers and watchmakers, some of whom had retired but were willing to return and contribute to the project. The result was the introduction of the Series 6S calibres in 1998, initially intended exclusively for the domestic market and housed within Seiko's most prestigious Credor line.
- One of these remarkable in-house calibers, the 6S74, is the first mechanical chronograph from Seiko since the 1970s, features a power reserve indicator and boasts a gold-plated finish. Its intricate construction reveals the column wheel and lateral coupling mechanism through a transparent display back, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship involved.
- The current reference encased in 18K yellow gold pays homage to classic chronographs with its Roman numerals, absence of a date display, exquisite fluted bezel, and black hands. The case has developed an attractive patina which added a touch of uniqueness to the timepiece.
